Spring has sprung

The weather has been so nice that I'm taking a gamble and putting my plants in the ground now!

Here we have two kinds of peppers, three kinds of tomatoes, a mess of marigolds and four eggplants down the center.

It's still missing the basil and a few more pepper plants, but I'm doing pretty well!

Last year I spent the whole growing season about six weeks behind schedule. Now here we are on the eve of our one-year anniversary of living here, and everything is going SO WELL.

Furniture!

Today was the kind of day where the kids and I got loads of useful stuff done. So behold, I just did my first re-upholstering!

We've had this junky stool from Goodwill for years and I've been meaning to put a new cover on it. I finally did! Jack loved watching, though he found the staple gun mortally frightening. (Good! No touching it that way!)

Happy house anniversary!

I realized yesterday that we've almost lived in our house for a year now. It will be official on May 1st, which is a lovely anniversary! :)

I am delighted with what we've accomplished so far, and with two small kids no less.

Here's a piece of our garden looking much happier and more well-loved than it did when we arrived!

Feathers!

Here is Colleen modeling how they already have Real Wing Feathers! When we got them they were just fluff all over. Now they even have teeny weeny tail feathers coming in!

Introducing...

Flower, Atilla (the hen), Red, Lady Bird, Becky (or Duckie, according to Evie) Sharp, and Colleen!

Yes, yes, I know. It's crazy enough around here without adding a flock of chickens!

But on the other hand, I have two young kids and it's always going to be crazy for SOME reason. So we may as well have fresh eggs and exciting jobs for the kids while we're at it!

Waiting for our flight

We miss Jack and Daddy already, but reading Hoot Hoot is a good consolation. :)
