what a strong neck!

He could do this allll day....

Jack's second bath

Okay, we're still not too brave about taking bath pictures -- he tends to wobble around a lot with all that water. Here's one that at least shows his general attitude toward baths (calm, but very interested in the strange goings-on):

Jack's first book

This week, Jack got a book in the mail from his great great aunt! It is very cute. Alex read it aloud to him already, and he was fascinated. Considering that it has real pages, we are going to hold it aside until he gets a bit older and doesn't have quite such a probability of eating it. :)

Jack exercises his independence....

He's a big boy -- he doesn't need to be snuggled ALL the time, you know....

nap time!

Harvest Festival

Yesterday Jack went to his first harvest festival. It was at Applecrest Orchards, which seems to be one of the coolest orchard/farms ever, with the added benefit of being only 10 minutes away from us! All the adult men of the family had to work, so we set out with aunties Amy and Alison, cousins Ashley and Rebecca, and Nonnie (aka my mom, Diana) for a day of fun. :)

Here is Jack helping Nonnie get ready to head out:

When we got there it was about 12:30 and we were all hungry, so we got right in line for some hot dogs, roasted corn, cider, and more. Here is Jack waiting to get through the line:
And enjoying a harvest lunch:
After lunch, we ran around and played:

Next, we got some cider donuts and hot cider....
...and saw a petting zoo that had a llama, some hens, and a bunch of baby goats:Jack helped me talk Alex through a quick file upload I had forgotten to do before leaving:
We hit the farm stand for some goodies:
And enjoyed some really good bluegrass music:

By then, it had been a long day and Jack was all tired out. Time to go home!

introducing bottles

Since I'm going to be returning to work at some point, we have planned to pump milk and have Alex give bottles to Jack. This also has the benefit that I won't have to wake up EVERY time that he's hungry in the night! This picture is not great, since the camera battery died, but you can at least see the dubious look:

He did figure it out in short order, and drank the whole thing! Yaaaaaaaaay, more than 3 hours of sleep in a row!! :D
